Q & A
Who decides who gets a monetary gift from the Sh*t Gets Fixed community?
For now I do. I will use my experience with cancer, my better judgment and most of all my heart to choose who gets a gift. I will also rely on the staff of the medical facility I’m visiting and other cancer patients to find potential recipients. Basically, it’s a no brainer… I don’t know of a single cancer patient that couldn’t use a monetary gift to help ease the burden of fighting cancer.
What’s the amount of the monetary gift given to each individual?
I don’t know yet. Once the Sh*t Gets Fixed YouTube channel becomes eligible for googles YouTube partner program and we (Non profit) start receiving funds I will have a better idea. Of course, this also depends on the success of this channel. If I estimate the channel making $5,000.00 (Five Thousand) A year in profits I think that each gift should be in the neighborhood of $250.00 dollars allowing use to help 20 cancer patients a year. If the channel makes $50,000.00 (Fifty Thousand) a year in profits I think the gift should be $500.00. That would give us a chance to help 100 cancer patients! If the Channel becomes extremely successful beyond my wildest dreams, lets say $1,000,000.00! ( One Million) in profits. Each gift should be in the ballpark of $5,000.00. Allowing us to help 200 cancer patients a year!
Why don’t you accept applications for potential recipients?
I feel the process must remain simple to be effective. If I accepted applications for potential recipients, I would need an army of people to process all those applications. This would put a huge drag on the efficacy of this giving process.
Where in the country will most of the gifts be given?
Because of where I live most if not all of the gifts will be given out in the upper Midwest. I don’t want to reveal any more details because I will be giving out most of the gifts inside medical facilities, hospitals and cancer centers. I don’t want them to be involved in the process because they will want the money to go to them or their organization. Also I need to be very careful on how I do this because of HIPPA laws and to protect the identity of the recipients.
How will you get the gift to each recipient?
I will simply walk up to the recipient, tell them who I am, the mission of the non profit and about all of you that make that mission possible and hand them the envelope containing the gift.
Are any strings attached to this gift?
No! never! I will only ask that the recipients keep fighting against cancer and to pay it forward someday somehow.
NOTE: The mission of Sh*t Gets Fixed will not change but the small details on how we give out gifts, or how we choose who gets a gift and stuff like that might. We must start somewhere and this is how we are going to start. Not perfect or ideal but effective and I will keep everyone up to date on improvements to our process as thing evolve.
